Telephone
No. 10
Another Ericsson CB phone, probably their CG400. This steel-cased phone was
introduced around 1912 and was intended to replace the more ornate (and more
expensive) older-style desk phones like the Tele No 1. Decoration was minimal.
It was usually finished in plain black with a Commonwealth of Australia transfer
and gold pinstriping. Its lifespan was brief, the generally cheaper candlestick
phones being preferred after the first World War until the bakelite phones appeared.
